Bio

Scott Malone arrived on a season-long loan deal from Derby County in August 2020.

The 29-year-old left-back, who played for The Lions between 2012-15, became Gary Rowett's third summer signing.

Malone began his career as a trainee at Wolverhampton Wanderers before moving to AFC Bournemouth after loan spells at Southend United and Burton Albion, working under Rowett at the latter.

The Lions came calling in 2012, and after three years, 71 appearances and five goals, the defender opted for a move to Wales and Cardiff City, before moving back to London and Fulham.

In 2017, Malone's first taste of Premier League football came through a transfer to Huddersfield Town, but after one season with The Terriers, the former Lion embarked on the next part of his career at Pride Park. Malone, however, came back to SE16 to bolster Rowett's options for the 2020/21 camapign - and he scored a delightful strike, potentially a Goal of the Season contender, at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday 6th February.

Malone made his loan move permanent in the summer of 2021, going on to make 41 appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals, including the first home goal of the campaign - with fans back inside The Den - against Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup.
